About Us

At Collaborative Minds, our neurodiversity-affirming speech, language, and parent support practice stands out from others due to its unique approach and comprehensive services. Here are a few reasons why our practice is exceptional:

Embracing Neurodiversity:

We firmly believe in the power of neurodiversity and celebrate the unique strengths and abilities of every child. Our practice goes beyond traditional therapy methods by incorporating a neurodiversity-affirming approach, which recognizes and values the diverse ways in which individuals think, learn, and communicate.

Strength-Based Approach:

We focus on identifying and nurturing the strengths and special interests of each child. By building upon their existing abilities, we empower them to develop communication skills and enhance their overall well-being. Our practice recognizes that every child has unique talents and passions that can be harnessed to support development.

Play Based Therapy Sessions:

We recognize that children learn best when they are regulated. Our goal is to make therapy a positive experience by providing naturalistic communication opportunities that are movement based and child-led. By taking an individualized approach, we ensure that therapy is engaging, relevant, and effective, leading to meaningful progress.

Parent Involvement:

We understand effective therapy extends beyond individual sessions. That's why we provide comprehensive support to empower families to encourage communication at home. By ensuring parents are active partners in the therapy process, we create an environment that maximizes the child's ability to grow.

Inclusive and Safe Environment:

Our practice is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all children and families. We prioritize creating a space where everyone feels respected, understood, and valued. By fostering a positive and accepting atmosphere, we create the ideal setting for children to thrive and reach their full potential.

"There needs to be a lot more emphasis on what a child can do instead of what they cannot"

Christina Beta, MA, SLP

Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist, Neurodiversity Affirming Clinician

With over 2 decades of experience as a speech-language pathologist supporting children of all abilities. Her clinical experience includes supporting individuals with autism, ADHD, diverse emotional needs, and unique learning profiles. Christina has embraced a natural and functional approach to speech and language therapy to empower children to become their most authentic selves.

Beyond her work as a therapist, Christina’s interactions and collaborations with other professionals and autistic individuals helped her see that the deficit-based approach to therapy created a limited view of Autistic individuals’ abilities and unique gifts. As a lifelong student, she embraced a neurodiversity-affirming approach to therapy and advanced her skillset through various trainings. Christina uses her vast knowledge and experience with families and professionals alike. She creates tailored therapy plans for children she supports that are trauma-informed, strength-based, sensory-regulating, and neurodiversity-affirming.

Having witnessed firsthand the unique strengths and challenges experienced by parents of neurodivergent children, Christina founded Collaborative Minds Consulting & Therapy to offer education, coaching, and therapy that empowers families in her community.

For Christina, the ultimate reward is found in moments of genuine connection with her clients—when they feel truly seen, heard, and understood. Her unique ability to empathize and build trust with children and their families creates a sense of safety and belonging. With every interaction, she reassures them: 'I see you. I understand you. And I’m here to support you.'
